E-Discovery Services

Litigation can be expensive, and the discovery phase frequently accounts for most of the cost.  With substantial and ever-growing amounts of electronically-stored information, experienced e-discovery counsel is critical.  Anymore, almost every case involved some amount of e-discovery, and many lawyers “get by” so long as the volume of ESI isn’t significant or the issues aren’t complex.  But when you are involved in large-scale litigation, you don’t want counsel who can merely get by — you need counsel who truly understands e-discovery and has the experience to devise and implement a case-specific e-discovery strategy.  KingWoods has that experience, and we offer discovery counseling services to clients, as well as working with merits counsel by serving as discovery counsel.

KingWoods attorneys have been deeply involved in handling complex e-discovery matters since 2003, having routinely handled matters involving millions of documents.  Because e-discovery is a core service at KingWoods, we have a deep understanding of the techniques and technologies needed to achieve quality and cost-effective results, including advanced culling, data analytics, and technology-assisted review.  But unlike counsel who handle only e-discovery matters, our significant litigation experience enables us to see how e-discovery fits within the bigger picture, thereby allowing us to devise and implement procedures most appropriate for each case.  Our e-discovery services include:

  • Advising clients regarding data preservation
  • Preparing e-discovery protocols and leading meet-and-confer sessions
  • Responding to written discovery requests and defending discovery-related motions
  • Taking and defending depositions of corporate representatives regarding electronic discovery and records retention issues
  • Devising, implementing, and overseeing electronic discovery strategies from collection through review and production
  • Identifying, selecting, and working with outside e-discovery vendors
  • Developing and managing technology-assisted reviews, including quality control, quality assurance, and validation
  • Training and overseeing contract review teams
